Every August 9th, the government would publicly announce updates during the National Day Rally.
There are 3 major updates;
There will be an increase in shared parental leave. Where currently there is only 4 weeks of parental leave, by 2026, parents can share a total of 30 weeks parental leave after the enhanced scheme.
There will be an increase of up to $6000 aid for job seekers. This new scheme is projected to help Singaporeans in training, career coaching and job matching. This new scheme is hoped to be tangible support so that lower and middle income workers can bounce back stronger after getting through a setback.
Housing enhancements will now be expanded. Where before BTO were exclusively given to couples, the scheme has expanded to single Singaporeans as well. The government understands how COVID-19 has affected housing rates, and adjusted the scheme to further help Singaporeans.
What’s the insight?
Singaporeans always demand and look forward to how the government can make their livelihood more prosperous. The citizens understand that many renewals and revitalizations regarding mandates are needed for a better future.
With the updated schemes, Singaporeans feel heard and understood by their country, and there is a hope that all Singaporean citizens can get a fair shot in life.
